CPP41119 Certificate IV in Home Energy Efficiency and Sustainability

Get Qualified as a NatHERS Assessor

Kickstart your career in a rapidly expanding sector or build on your current skills with the CPP41119 Certificate IV in Home Energy Efficiency and Sustainability. As Australia’s leading trainer for NatHERS Assessors, we work closely with industry experts, including the NatHERS National Administrator, NatHERS Software Providers and Assessor Accrediting Organisations (specifically Design Matters National [DMN]) to ensure you are industry ready.

Unlike other training providers, we deliver live, interactive software training (via Zoom) in NatHERS accredited software (from June 2022 only HERO will be offered). You receive extensive, detailed feedback of each thermal performance rating based on your submission showing you exactly what you need to know and do. This makes you industry ready and able to pass a mandatory QA review of your work by your accreditation body.

Our software training brings together theory and practice from industry, the NatHERS technical note and years of hands-on experience using NatHERS software. Others charge over $2500 for this type of training.

What our students say:

Just wanted to say thank you so much for offering such a great course. I have really enjoyed studying my Certificate IV in Home Energy Efficiency and Sustainability with Transformed.

The course is really well organised, your videos and zoom meetings were extremely helpful, the platform functions perfectly, your response time to queries and questions is always prompt and overall, it is just been a wonderful experience.

I’d like in particular to thank you so much for offering the live FirstRate 5 online sessions hosted by Matthew Graham. What a difference the 6 sessions have made! I have learnt so much over the last 7 weeks and feel so much more confident in my modelling skills as a result. It was wonderful to learn from someone with as much experience as Matthew, especially as he is working in the field, so not only knows his way around the software like the back of his hand but is also happy to share some of his personal tips and tricks that cannot be learned from a manual.

      Becoming an Assessor

Becoming an accredited NatHERS thermal performance assessor

The CPP41119 Certificate IV in Home Energy Efficiency and Sustainability is designed to tick the boxes of assessors operating under the Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme (NatHERS), which promotes residential building design that helps to reduce manual heating and cooling. This is generally achieved through effective passive building design and the use of residential building materials that help to reduce heating and cooling requirements.

Once you have completed the course, you’ll be able to apply for registration (accreditation) as an energy rater or assessor with Design Matters National and the Association of Building Sustainability Assessors (ABSA).

This course satisfies the competence requirements to conduct thermal performance ratings in all jurisdictions and to complete BASIX assessments for Development Applications for multi-storey unit developments in NSW.

      Becoming a home sustainability assessor

The CPP41119 Certificate IV in Home Energy Efficiency and Sustainability is also designed to meet the needs of residential sustainability assessors, who provide advice to building owners on how to improve the sustainability of their homes. Home sustainability assessors not only investigate the thermal performance of a residential building, but also look at the overall energy and water efficiency of the household and may make recommendations about other areas such as waste generation and disposal.

      Course Overview

The CPP41119 Certificate IV in Home Energy Efficiency and Sustainability is designed to meet the needs of thermal performance assessors operating under the Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme (NatHERS), and home sustainability assessors.

During the course, you’ll study best practice theory with practical workplace application. Work at your own pace using our online library filled with study notes, videos and webinars for each unit of competence. Access articles and resources on demand and watch videos when it suits you.

You’ll learn how to assess household energy and water use, collect information to inform a NatHERS thermal performance assessment, recommend improvements to building design and select high performing building materials within a set budget. This course will also arm you with the skills you need to work with clients, and to manage both your own work performance and your safety and security in different work situations.

By the end of this course, you will have an understanding of the specialist skills and knowledge required to become effective as a NatHERS thermal performance assessor and home sustainability assessor.

Plus, learn how to use the latest software to complete thermal performance planning, modelling and costing tasks using Hero software.
