    Overview

    Demand for skilled and experience procurement officers and contract managers is growing.

    This program is especially designed for those new to business or with an interest in
    working in procurement, in particular:

    • Project officers
    • Procurement/purchasing officers
    • Contract administrators

    Build a solid understanding of procurement principles, a cutting edge contracting skillset, and real-world knowledge of procurement processes to impress potential employers.

    This entry level certificate in procurement provides the ideal start point. It is what
    employers expect you to hold as a minimum qualification.

    You’ll graduate with the knowledge and skills need to work in procurement and contract management in business, commercial organisations and not-for-profits.

    After completing this BSB40120 Certificate IV in Business (Procurement), students will be able to:

    Course Fees and Funding

    Course Price: $3,950.00 blended (online and work-based assessment) & RPL

    Note: Fees are payable by an upfront deposit of up to $1,500 (agreed at time of enrolment), followed by equal monthly instalments covering the remaining course fee balance.

    Fees are GST exempt.

    Student Profile

    Procurement, or purchasing is the process of seeking quotes and engaging suppliers to provide goods and services for an organisation.

    This involves:

    • liaising with people across the organisation
    • developing a statement of work or requirements
    •  understanding the market preparing requests for quotes and tenders
    • evaluating supplier responses
    • negotiating contracts

    Once the deal is done, that’s when the contract administration management work kicks in. This involves:

    • managing supplier performance and delivery
    • administering contract variations
    • making payments

    Entry Requirements
    • There are no entry requirements for this qualification.
    • Must have access to a computer and the internet or an internet enabled device
    • Procurement work experience is desirable but not essential

    Expected level of student skills: It is expected students have a level of digital literacy to access information, communicate and complete training and assessment activities using a computer/tablet and our online learning platform. Students will be required to complete a number of tasks independently, and to have the skills to manage their own time and study. Students are expected to be able to research and analyse information, and to apply knowledge to real world situations.

    Students will be required to independently read and understand a range of different documents including organisation policies, plans, guidelines & procedures, external documentation (may include codes, policies and articles), handbooks, instruction guides (and where applicable drawing and plans). Students are also required to develop written documentation, including risk assessments, action plans, logs, reports.

    A key skill for this program is the ability to effectively communicate with others in English.

    Technology requirements: Students should be able to access and use computer/tablet device with word processing software, internet browser, email account and webcam/microphone and speakers (or headset). An internet connection is also required.

    Students are required to undertake a number of assessment activities, including:

    • Practical Assessment tasks

    Assessment for the Certificate IV in Business (Procurement) is against the competency standards within the Business Training Package.
